Tea extracts

The tea extract used in our BLISSand Supreme Oral Care Serums is rich in flavonoids. Flavonoids are secondary metabolites primarily synthesized by plants. To date, around 8000 flavonoids have been identified, including many plant pigments that are contained in this group of substances. All of these naturally occurring flavonoids share the same core structure. Flavonoids are a very revealing and diverse group of substances, the exploration of which is sure to bring many more positive surprises.

Many flavonoids from tea have pronounced health-promoting effects that have long been known to people in Asian countries (such as Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and Japan) and have now been scientifically proven. Both antioxidant effects and anti-inflammatory properties play an important role. Epidemiological studies show that the risk of various diseases decreases with a higher intake of flavonoids.

Core structure of Flavonoids

Propolis

Propolis is a resinous mixture produced by honey bees. Essentially, propolis consists of plant resin and other resins, pollen and essential oils. Due to its content of flavonoids, vitamins and micronutrients, it is a natural helper that supports the refreshment and regeneration of your gum. Propolis is also known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects, it is assumed these effects are based on the high flavonoid content of bee propolis.

Chamomile essential oil

Chamomile essential oil is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Chamomile essential oil contains high levels of α-bisabolol and matricin, as well as flavonoids such as apigenin (sedative and anti-anxiety), quercetin (antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties) and coumarin (anti-inflammatory, sedative, antispasmodic).

α-Bisabolol and chamazulene, the two main components of chamomile essential oil, have anti-inflammatory properties and support the daily regeneration of the gum. In addition, chamazulene is also known as an antioxidant, thus protecting your gum from external attacks and damage.

Xylitol

Xylitol, a naturally occurring alditol, helps reduce plaque formation on your teeth. On the one hand it reduces the growth of caries bacteria, on the other hand it reduces acid-related decalcification of your teeth.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is an anionic, non-sulfated glycosaminoglycan that occurs naturally almost everywhere in the human body. As the main component of the extracellular matrix, hyaluronic acid plays a key role in tissue regeneration, the inflammatory response and angiogenesis, the phases of wound healing in the skin and gum.

The hyaluronic acid in our BLISSand Supreme Oral Care Serums not only has an excellent mucoadhesive characteristic that allows the serum to evenly cover and protect your gum, but it also allows the viscosity of our BLISSand Supreme Oral Care Serums to be regulated to make them ideal between your aligners and distribute it to your gum and teeth.

However, the main function of hyaluronic acid is even more important. It penetrates deep into the tissue and, as an integral part of the extracellular matrix of your gum, supports the storage of moisture in the tissues, protects your gum through its function as a radical scavenger and plays a role in the proliferation and migration of keratinocytes. Due to its biocompatibility and reversibility, it is the ideal component to strengthen your gum tissue against external not only during aligner treatment, implant treatment and periodontal treatment, but also during your daily beaty care.
